Raunchy baby. To borrow a tired old phrase, they’re baaaack. Shawn and Marlon Wayans team up again for the sequel to last summer’s Scary Movie. And judging by the parodies, they must have thrown the film together rather quickly since they made it in less than a year and they even parody this spring’s Hannibal. Story wise, there really isn’t much of one. Scary Movie 2 pretty much just goes from one parody to the next, making fun of films such as The Exorcist, What Lies Beneath, and many, many more. But a brief synopsis nonetheless. The Professor (Tim Curry, Charlie's Angels) gets a group of college students to go to a house as part of his experiment to prove the existence of life after death. You see the house is haunted, but the professor doesn’t tell the students this. Plus the Professor would also like to score with the women in the group. The group of students consists of Ray (Shawn Wayans), Shorty (Marlon Wayans, Dungeons & Dragons), Cindy (Anna Faris), Alex (Tori Spelling, Scream 2), Jamie Lee (Kathleen Robertson), and Brenda (Regina Hall). So these kids have to look out for the ghosts and goblins of the haunted house while also fending off the disgusting butler Hanson (Chris Elliott, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps) that also wants to sleep with the girls. Others in this rather large cast include, but is not limited to, James Woods (Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within), Natasha Lyonne, Andy Richter, Richard Moll, and Christopher Masterson. The older Wayans brother, Keenen Ivory, directed the film, while Alison Fouse and Greg Grabianski wrote the thing. Like I said earlier, there really isn’t much of a plot, and thus not much of a movie. In fact I think of it more as an extend episode of In Living Color, but rated R, and a lot raunchier (if that is even a word). Granted Scary Movie 2 is very funny and I laughed most of the movie, but I just have a hard time calling it a movie. It is just sketch after sketch of parodies thrown together with a very weak plot. In the end though, I did laugh a lot, and this was a comedy. So I give Scary Movie 2 six couches on the About-Movies.com scale. Bye.
