You all know what time it is! It's time for another Out & About Movie Review, this time for the movie Wild Things. Hello again, I'm Mike and I like movies, so let's get right to it. Wild Things is a mystery thriller filled with sex, lies, and no videotapes. It also has killing, backstabbing, women on women scenes, and everybody's favorite movie star, Mr. Footloose himself, Kevin Bacon. Besides bacon bits, other actors and actresses include Matt Dillon as Mr. Sam Lombardo the guidance counselor, Neve Campbell as Suzie Toller the loner, and finally Bill Murray as Ken Bowden the cheap attorney. Bacon plays Ray Duquette, a local cop at the small Florida community whose politics are dominated by the Van Ryan family. The Van Ryans are loaded, and thus usually get their way. Which apparently includes getting Matt Dillon's character railroaded into rape charges involving the high school Van Ryan, played by Denise Richards. Dillon plays a pretty boy who has slept with half of this snobby community's rich wives. Now earlier I said apparently because I don't want to give away all the plot twists and turns from the second half of the movie. Needless to say by the end of Wild Things you won't be sure of who is sleeping with who, and who is setting up who. The actors and actresses put in good performances, and the sex scenes are great if that's your thing. Wild Things is rated R for the lesbian scenes, not to mention the profanity, violence, and general nudity, which unfortunately includes Kevin Bacon's ass. The movie was written by Stephen Peters and directed by John McNaughton. Robert Wagner and Theresa Russell also play roles in the film. I must say that I was quite surprised with Wild Things since I was expecting a soft porn movie and ended up with a movie that has a good story with a lot of plot twists and turns. OK it wasn't much of a soft porn flick, but hey, you can't get everything. As for the Out & About rating, I give Wild Things a solid seven out of ten couches.
